How many calories do you burn?
What is a MET?
Anyone who has used a piece of cardio equipment has seen the MET button on the control panel and most of us wonder what it means. A MET is the Metabolic Equivalent Unit that expresses oxygen uptake/caloric expenditure relative to resting values. One MET is equal to to one calorie burned per Kg of body weight per hour (1 MET=1cal x Kg bodyweight). To convert pounds to kilograms simply multiply your weight in pounds by 0.45 (Kg=Weight in lbs x 0.45).
