The West Suburban YMCA Announces the
15th Annual Angino Memorial Road Race and Family Field Day
Sunday, April 13, 2008
The West Suburban YMCA will hold its 15th Annual Angino Memorial Road Race and Family Field Day on Sunday, April 13, 2008. One of the largest community events for the facility this 3-mile road race has been held annually for 14 years in loving memory of Ernest and Jerry Angino, longtime supporters of our YMCA.
This year, the proceeds from the race will help support the creation of the Y's new Youth Community Center and Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids, a private non-profit foundation which funds programs that provide medical assistance, medical research, education, community service, and advocacy for children's needs. When completed, the Youth Community Center will more than double the space for youth and teen programming.
This race is open to children and adults of all ages. Participants are encouraged to round up their friends and co-workers and sign up as a team of four. Kids races begin at 11 am; the adult 3-mile walk begins at 11:45 am; and the 3-mile adult run kicks off at noon. Free babysitting will be provided to runners between 11:30 am - 1 pm. Registration is $18 per adult before April 10th, $20 after April 10th, $5 per child, and $60 for a team of four.
Activities on the New Balance Track & Field from 10 am -1 pm will include obstacle courses, potato sack races, 3-legged races, and a moonwalk. There will also be a visit from two Circus to Go! Clowns from the Big Apple Circus with plenty of giveaways for the kids. Lunch, race results, and an after party will follow at the Newton Elks Lodge.
