Youth Basketball Association (YBA)
NEWTON, MA – The West Suburban YMCA is kicking off its new season of the Youth Basketball Association (YBA) for kids ages 4-12 at the Y’s facility, 276 Church Street, Newton Corner.
The Y’s basketball association (YBA) provides a fun introduction to basketball and team play in a progressive program for boys and girls. The program is divided into four groups as followed: YBA Mini Basketball, ages 4; YBA Biddy Basketball, ages 5 and 6; YBA Rookie League, ages 7 and 8; YBA Collegiate, 9 and 10 years old and YBA Professional League, ages 11 and 12. Parents can volunteer to be coaches.
Volunteer coaches are asked to attend the annual Coaches Clinic. This season’s clinic will be held on Saturday, November 4 from 11am to 12pm. The clinic will be run by Kathy Delaney-Smith, head women’s basketball coach, Harvard University.
All YBA games take place once a week on Saturdays or Sundays. The YBA officially kicks off Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. The cost for these sessions is $125 for YMCA members and $175 for non-members.
