YMCA Host Historical Exhibit at Newton Free Library
NEWTON, MA – On October 5, the West Suburban YMCA, located in Newton Corner, opened an exhibition at the Newton Free Library at 330 Homer St. The exhibit entitled “West Suburban YMCA – 130 years of Service to the Families of Newton” portrays the story of local youth and adults that have participated in and been supported by the YMCA for over a century. The display includes historic photographs, postcards, artifacts, and documents related to the YMCA’s early history, its later years, youth programs, adult programs, basketball and its two, co-ed, youth camps, Frank A. Day and Chickami. Selected historical national YMCA materials are also presented. The exhibition will close on October 31. An opening reception will be held on October 12 at 6:30 p.m.
