Another SUCCESSFUL Children's Charity Golf Tournament
West Suburban YMCA’s 3rd Annual Children’s Charity Golf Tournament Nets $120,000
On Monday, June 12th, the West Suburban YMCA held its Third Annual Children’s Charity Golf Tournament & Auction at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, MA. Tournament proceeds from this successful event are projected to exceed $120,000.
Funds raised through the event will support the construction of a new all-weather artificial turf field and synthetic track at the West Suburban YMCA.
“Replacement of the existing dirt and grass field”, noted Pat Palmer, YMCA President & CEO, “will enable us to triple our youth sports programs for thousands of kids annually in soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, flag football, track and field, and much more. Raising these funds is a key first step in our efforts to raise the $900,000 necessary to install the new field and track.
“The West Suburban YMCA is committed to keeping kids active to fight the growing health epidemic of childhood obesity, added Palmer. “Using sports and athletics, the YMCA teaches kids valuable life skills, including sportsmanship, goal setting, teamwork, staying healthy and coping with stress.”
The Tournament attracted over 100 players and participants and has evolved into the YMCA’s most popular and successful special event. Since its inception three years ago, it has raise raised over $270,000 to improve and expand YMCA programs and services for youth and children. This year’s tournament winner with a best-ball net score of 55 was the foursome of Tim Braceland, Bud Gartland, Vicki Gartland and Mike Enos.
In addition to all of the players, the YMCA wishes to thank the following supporters: Tournament Sponsor, Great Hill Partners; Diamond Sponsor, The Mancuso Family; Platinum Sponsor, Bain Capital Children’s Charity; Gold Sponsor, Citizens Bank; Bronze Sponsors, R.L. Tennant Insurance, WUNR 1600 AM Radio International and Eckert Seamens Cherin & Mellot; Sponsors, David Mayer, Financial Architect Partners, Newton Wellesley Hospital, TA Associates, Goodwin Procter; and Benefactors, T.R.
